In 2019, the Galveston Mardi Gras schedule includes parades and events to be held from February 22nd through March 5th, 2019. More than 300,000 attendees are expected to take part in the massive event, with millions of beads and countless parties and parades to enjoy.
Live music lovers can get a front-row seat to the fun at more than 30 different concerts, with everything from family-friendly tunes to electronic dance music on the list. Add to your collection of beads at your choice of 20 balcony parties, where partiers will gather in historic downtown Galveston for food, drinks, and dancing. For partygoers that want to experience the finer side of the celebration, five elegant masked balls offer the opportunity to get dressed up and enjoy good company.
More than 20 different parades will take place during the Mardi Gras festivities, kicked off with a traditional brass band and ceremony at the historic Tremont House. As carnival seasons gets underway, the Funky Uptown Umbrella Brigade will make their annual appearance – come prepared with your own funkified umbrella. The party goes on well into the night with the Mardi Gras! Galveston Parade, then starts back up the next morning with the Jolly Jester Jaunt 5K on The Strand. Whether you choose to run, jog, or walk the 5K, participants are encouraged to don their best Mardi Gras beads and festive wear. Families will find plenty of events to enjoy as well, including the Children’s Parade and Krewe of Barkus & Meoux pet parade planned for the second weekend of Mardi Gras Galveston.
